There are studies (well, on brainfart level and maybe one step above), about trains where you can take your car with you. Not the style of the AutoTrain (which is a point-to-point operation with rather long times for loading and unloading the cars).
Instead there is some kind of bi-level car, where the lower level is the "garage", and the upper level for passengers; this would suit small cars fitting crosswise, such as the Smart fortwo, but would allow quick load and unload.
Another possibility for a point-to-point service would be an extrapolation (speed-wise) of the Channel Tunnel car shuttles, where you remain in your car during the whole ride.
OTOH, why not work with a simple car sharing service, even provide a package consisting of High Speed Train ticket plus car sharing car at the destination?
A bit mean, but if you want to schlepp along your household, you'd be better off with an RV, wouldn't you?
