Re: Metrolink derailment in Oxnard.
For photos, also mentions conductor saw the truck on fire a long ways out?

Look at photo showing trailer(?) with the island signal mast tangled with it. My suspicion - truck was southbound on Rice waiting to cross or turn on 5th, got caught on tracks when gates came down. I really doubt driver would have survived crash and was found a mile away if he stayed in truck. This could be the second recent major crossing accident due to vehicles stopped on the tracks where the road intersects another closely paralleling the tracks, a common problem. Never understood why they don't require vehicles to wait behind the tracks and not cross tracks except on a green.
There is also a photo of the front of the car car. Something doesn't look right to me specifically the coupler/draft gear. Did the crash energy management system actually interfere with keeping it on the track?
