TEMPORARY TRAIL FOR APTOS VILLAGE

Over the next few years, Aptos Village Plan will be under construction. Once completed, the project will make Aptos Village a very desirable place to live and visit. Unfortunately, traffic is expected to be unbearable during construction. Aptos Rail-Trail is recommending “temporary” removal of tracks and establishing a gravel trail within District 2 (Aptos) to allow for community members to bike or walk to Aptos Village. Since there is no freight train business north of Watsonville, Train to Christmas Town operates from Watsonville to Buena Vista and any potential future passenger train service is years, using the corridor to improve mobility within Aptos Village during construction. We are proposing to Barry Swenson Builders, Supervisor Zach Friend and RTC to look at this as a potential solution to traffic congestion during construction of Aptos Village.
