This weekend, the Aptos Rail-Trail posted photos of a cycling accident at the round about.

Now lets look at the facts

The round about is under construction and far from complete. Proper signage will be in place when it is finished.

Common sense would tell us to be careful crossing railroad tracks anyways.

The cyclists involved were not amateur riders, they were the Triple Crown Ladies Cycling Team and were all very experienced riders who have received training on how to cross railroad tracks.

So once again, the rail line is shamed for other peoples lack of of concern for their own safety. I am an avid cyclist and a member of two Santa Cruz teams. Before every ride we discuss the railroad crossings and how to cross them safely. What happened yesterday was a case of a fellow avid cyclist not following her teams' own safety rules.
