You awakened a memory for me.
about 15 years ago, there was a small assembly of steam locomotives
in a public venue. Due to the proximity of the site to the trackage
and to a river, the adjoining bike patch was closed for the duration
by the city. They closed heavy gates across the paved patch at both
ends and posted signage; even put it in the local newspaper.
All went well until some self-important halfwit decided nobody was
going to close off part of HIS pathway. So, he lifted his bike over
the gate and started trying to zoom through the crowd enjoying the
show.
I say "tried," because he ran into several pissed off locomotive
crews, who casually tossed his bike into the river. He had a fit,
called the police, who listened to him rant and rave for about 3
seconds, then arrested him.
To huge applause, I might add.
