The Sygnet/Brookville locomotive will test initially as a Tier 3 unit, while the new inverter control system is being debugged. The unit is planned to operate in full Tier 4 mode.

As for use on long distance trains, there are no show stoppers. The fuel and UREA situation are currently only an issue in major terminals, where older fuel storage and filling systems are in place. But, in locations like Chicago, Oakland, and Seattle, fuel and UREA will be supplied via fuel trucks. This is also the plan at intermediate service points. For example, locomotive servicing on the Mid West corridors current are provided by fuel trucks in St. Louis, and in the Michigan terminals.

For California and Cascade services, the same is true at end terminals, so I do not understand the comment about not being feasible for long distance trains.
