In Garfield's Babes and Bullets, the big orange cat "enters a fantasy world in which he is Sam Spayed, a private investigator in a film noir atmosphere." As "Sam Spayed", Garfield at one point has his secretary call "KLondike 5-1234" (IIRC). Those of us to whom the original post was addressed may remember that KLondike was a San Francisco exchange. The producers did their homework well, because "KLondike 5" is "555", the generic prefix in today phone system. No more "BUtterfield 8", etc.
