Another trivia piece:

In 1980 the Stege Wye was a grade crossing not an overcrossing of 580! Holy crap, what happened when the line to Oakland was abandoned in 1981? How did ATSF get it's stack trains onto it's main? Across 580?!?! Were there time restrictions for the crossing? Wild stuff.

Also it looks like there was no frontage road between the Stege Wye and Central Ave, I think it is, back then, just 580. There was also a crossing of 580 at 47th St. where the lead to the SP main would've been for the UC Engineering Field station so I guess that probably wasn't an error. Traffic must've been terrible back then!
