Interesting comments..The many W Berkeley spurs were very active in 30's If interested.. one could look for info on I believe it was the Berkeley Harbor Belt RR .. a corporate name for at least one spur west of the SP main and north of University... also when there was a rotting abandoned Stege wooden station in mid 30's as I recall there were 4 tracks to Richmond on SP which in pre-SP Electric days had accommodated local trains to Richmond..and the east side track was used to store the old wooden open vestibule coaches that had beenused on East Bay suburban trains..that era.. Another item.. Someone could verify that in the bay.. parallel to the SP.. and out perhaps say 300 ft the ATSF had a right of way which of course was never developed.. but appeared on old Berkeley City maps available at the city hall.
