Didn't say it would be easy but start with a big picture marketing plan and tap one of the most lucrative markets in the US (10% of the 1% live in the Bay Area). Deep pockets in Silicon Valley to help fund restorations,corporate sponsorship's, folks with money to burn on wine trains, dinner trains, etc. etc. Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk is one of the top draws in the Bay Area and with increasing traffic congestion over Hwy. 17 on the weekends having a rail option to get to Santa Cruz should be on rail/ transit planners agenda.

The GGRM operating equipment could lay over in San Jose during the week(out of the Santa Cruz salt air). Partner with Caltrain to put more public pressure on UP. This corporate fiat of non UP equipment operation needs an Omaha attitude adjustment. Our local rail history is rooted in SP and the GGRM is doing a great job of preserving and restoring the equipment appropriate to their mission.
