Yes, I suppose you could say I am a NARCOA “drone.” After 27 years riding my motorcar over 25,000 miles (quit counting the last 5 years.) It has worked well for me. And, more railroads are offering their trackage to us. Life is good; I will be riding the Sierra Railroad again early next year. All the railroads we ride from MRL here in the west to the CN in the north or the Alaska RR further north acknowledge our safety record and understand that accidents do happen. Our safety record according to the insurance group compares better than some shortlines. I realize that there are, for many different reasons, disaffected motorcar operators out there, some do not want to buy insurance, and some have been kicked out of NARCOA for trespassing on railroads with their motorcar. But again, yes, I suppose I am a NARCOA “drone.” And glad of it.
