That's actually pretty good for the coroner's office all of about 20 minutes away.....
I once waited nearly 6 hours with the slide tied up at the top end of A yard waiting for the coroner after Mondo found the hobo who apparently fallen off trying to get on a bad order while wondering around drunk, and died in his arms with a pretty nasty head wound, from possibly hitting a ground throw..........nothing has changed in 35 years, except that yard isn't there anymore.
In the 90's used to work on freeway accident response issues due to sig-alerts to reduce congestion, the biggest bitc# of all of my CHiP's was the damned coroner, and yet 20 years later, and still nothing has changed........
At least we all decided it would be a good idea to use those fold up "gore" screens they deploy to hide the body and/or parts from the passing traffic, to prevent looky loo's and speed folks up a wee bit.............while they wait for the damn coroner to show up.
For a period back in the late 80's, I worked with the retired head of the CHP who was on one of the professional committee's advising folks on stuff like this...... He summed it up nicely, when he pointed out that back in his day (60's) he always told his officers that neither they nor the paramedics were doctors, so they should always transport the "patient" (parts and all), clear the damn road, and let the doctor declare them dead on arrival. So you didn't have to wait all damned night for the coroner to show up........
Yeah, it's really stupid and costly, and after so many years, nobody still seems to care.
Oh well?
