As the news settles in that Donald Trump, a serial adulterer and groper and conman who refuses to pay his vendors instead taking them to court to save his cash while refusing to donate a shred of his money to his own charity while spending the charity's money to settle his company's lawsuits and commission paintings of himself for his company's properties, is our new president, a lot of people are asking: how could this have happened?

One number: 70,000. That's how many voters Hillary needed to win the electoral college. Not votes but voters. Voters who voted, for Trump, that could have voted for Hillary. As Hillary's lead in the popular vote races in front of Trump, proving that a majority did not want Trump and hate him as a misogynist racist, we must look at the details of Hillary's failure.

Here are the hard data:
15,000 voters would flip Wisconsin
45,000 voters flip Pennsylvania
6,000 voters flip Michigan

If this had happened, we would be having a very different discussion today, and it would the Russians who would be crying in their beer, not the majority of America that rejects sexual assault, racism, nativism, and torture, unlike Trump.

So, Bill Clinton wisely suggested early on this fall, something I have said over and over, that Hillary needs to campaign more in rural areas and appeal to middle class white voters outside of the cities. Hillary's team refused to, shut out this idea, which I thought was a good one, in favor of pursuing Obama's coalition which she utterly failed to do.

It could have been so much different. Instead of a national crisis, a national success story. Instead of racism and bigotry winning the day and opening the door for a New Era for the Klu Klux Klan, the firings of Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other bad men.
