Great set of photos, it's just great to see actual train photos on a train board....

I seem to remember that both Pat Brown and Richard Nixon both had campaign trains in 1962. One of which stopped in Pasadena, and I got to see. Brown and/or Cranston (?) also had a campaign train in 1966 that I went to see in Azusa.

Give 'em hell Harry stopped at Mojave in 1948 and gave a famous speech to them, right after he had threatened to draft all of them into the Army, to end their nationwide strike, and get the troops back home after WWII, that these whiny dems, many of whom, were the ones who didn't turn out and vote should read.

RR workers were, as a result of Truman's threat, what one might call "disaffected blue collar workers" who were angry with him. Harry, didn't apologize, or suck up, or pander to them. Instead he publicly ripped them a new one for being petulant whiners, and asks them straight up, if he'd take away their RR Retirement, or their moms Social Security, and tells them to grow up....and vote for their self interest, instead of their emotions.

That's a lesson from history we've sure lost sight of these days.......

I believe Godfather may have included a photo of that (?) in his Mojave write up, in the SPHSTS quarterly, if I recall correctly...
