So you're saying the entire railroad industry is wrong and you expect us to believe that based on the results of a 40+ year old study? I don't think the rest of us are the ones stuck in a time warp. Do you honestly believe railroads like the Santa Fe and Norfolk & Western, which both had very comprehensive locomotive development programs, would have simply given up a proven and reliable technology just because some salesman said they should? Not only that, but you seem to assume that most of the railfans here know nothing about steam locomotives or the differences between them and diesel locomotives. You'd be surprised at just how much actual knowledge and (more importantly) how much experience some of us actually posess; don't assume we're all just a bunch of "know-nothings" just because few (if any) of us agree with your cherished beliefs. I'd also suggest finding more empirical eveidence to back your clainms up than just the one study.
