There was also a second prefered plan to have a second trans-gate?-tube from SF to Marin. While this route would not have provided stations along the Embarcadero.

But I guess in the end the people in Marin were correct, without a transportation infrastructure there would be no traffic! :<)

Short sightedness is the halmark of US urban transportation planning. Most politico's like to get the credit for the extra income generated by new development . . .and let the next guy woory about how people are going to get around.
