My favorite nitwit spreading more of my favorite mouse droppings....

Evil Thomas must be stopped! Or maybe now, we should change it to "Devious Diesel" must be stopped! Hutch will not be pleased with that, I know, but I couldn't resist.

These segments now under construction could still be salvaged with a competent intervention by moral and responsible adults. The "reformed" CHSRA must start by stopping the bleeding, and stopping the pissing away of taxpayer money by the barrel full. If necessary, issue stop work orders and stop letting new contracts on segments not yet under construction.

CHSRA then needs to completely reassess this project and the components that have been developed thus far, by being open to any and all solutions, and dropping the Kopp visions and the Freudian political fixation with the most costly and unnecessary super high speed system taxpayer money can buy.

CHSRA can then focus on how those current investments, already under way, can be used and/or modified, and be integrated in such a way as to meet real the real intercity travel demands we are facing in CA today, rather than continuing to operate under the delusional pretexts and false assumptions that got us into this mess in the first place.

Specifically:

First you stop work on all Pacheco, that will save money being pissed away right away.

Second, you commit a full funding agreement with MTA, to divert the cash flow now proposed to be used for Pacheco, to completing the LAUPT run-through by 2025. The best performing cost benefit rail passenger investment in the State, if not the nation, in operating cost and passenger time savings. This a commitment CHSRA has previously made, which is now endangered by the sheer insanity of the real likely costs of Super High Speed route via Pacheco Pass.

Third, you do an assessment of the state and conditions of the current projects, to determine the needs and changes necessary which would allow intermediate speed HSR services to use them. And, get those changes incorporated into the remaining work.

Fourth, you work with the SJC, Altamont, Caltrain, and the MTC to reassess the proposed Altamont Alternative, including direct access on a rebuilt DT Dumbarton bridge able to allow intermediate HSR and Commute service from the East Bay and northern SJ Valley (via a Tracy, Modesto, Merced, Fresno connection) to the Peninsula, SFO, and the City, and directly into San Jose, via the ACE line.

I can hear the true believers whining, and hogs at the trough squealing, right now.....

And, mouse can now add his two cents worth about the big conspiracy with the French, and the Evil LA Times, and the devilish work of Evil Thomas in cahoots with the all powerful Tejon Ranch......
