And yes, they have left this fiasco is wide open to all manner of unnecessary and costly risks from years of bad decisions, designed to perpetuate this incompetent mess, and keep slopping the trough.

And so, even if those who are now about to become "responsible" for this project were to pull there heads completely free of their asses today, it will still take billions more to fix it, and salvage anything useful.

Which is why I am so skeptical that they will make the changes they need to make.

Questions like the one you've asked will definitely be used to make the case that we need to "keep going" "no matter what". since "we promised people" (or maybe, intentionally mislead them in the bond initiative???) something that we don't need and could never really deliver, at a price we cannot afford, that really does nothing whatsoever to meet our real travel needs and most pressing transportation deficiencies.

There is a real price to be paid for failure in these things, even in our seemingly "consequence free" "brave new world".......
