Beanery's

If you are talking about RR "beanery's" with frijoles...….
The two Mexican places in Indio, the one with "red sauce" and brown refried beans, and the one with "green sauce, and black refried beans. The one over across from where the engine crews stayed, "black beans) had the best machaca and eggs for breakfast any time. The Greyhound drivers ate their, too, on layover in Indio.
And, one more completely "off the wall' old RR "beanery"
The "Chinaman" (probably not PC these days) in Brawley, across from the packing houses, downtown (long gone), had the weirdest combination of American, American "Chinese", Mexican, and Punjabi food...with plenty of lettuce. A combination of cultures and foods unique to the "Valley". It was said that Bud Antil "the lettuce king" "Bud of California" ate breakfast there, watching them load the lettuce into PFE cars, during the season.
This is making me hungry, almost time to fire up the barby.
