The problem with trains is that making a railfan shoot an exclusive experiance is just about impossible. Railroad right of way's are narrow and stretch for miles. Nonpaying fans can take pictures from legal locations and aside from complaining about them there is nothing that can be done, except for one thing. If the planned trip is an exclusive experiance, make it so by only telling the exclusive group of people who will be sharing in the experiance. Martin gave the railfan community just about a day by day build-up to this event by describing what was going to happen on Trainorders. By doing that did he really think that he could do this operation without the "freeloaders" taking pictures? If limited information was given out as to the date and time of the event it's amazing how exclusive it could have been. Martin's shots of the 25's test runs were exclusive. Why? Because there was no pre-announcement that they were going to happen or a rough schedule where railfans could expect to get shots. So only Martin and the crew could get those shots (a bonus of being the ones doing the work). You want to keep something exclusive? Don't tell anyone other than the invited guests about it. Then do the bragging after the event is over.
