Re: What is the FRA definition of HSR? And, from "real" wikipedia

Sorry you took umbrage at my comments. I was FWIW very pleased to be aboard the first SB (RRWB) Metroliner departing Penn Station in Jan 1969. As a 24 yr old, seeing the 124 we hit on the digital speedometer in the rear cab courtesy of a Budd VP, I was jazzed. In the AEM 7 era regionals on the NEC did the same occasionally, and I did sample Acela once--not worth the price for the time saving and the coffee and nuked from frozen to soggy pseudo Danish were crappy. Commentary on other sites has noted that although the tracks in MI and Ill have been manicured, the trains (Chi-Stl, and Chi to various MI) are still slower than in the 50s.
So, while I am pleased Sir Richard has put his brand on the FEC, and I welcome both new route mileage and better service, referencing the very wiki article you quote, it isn't high speed--emerging,maybe. Riled? hell no. Holding my breath to see the Las Vegas route start construction? no. Will I be happy if they do build it? Heck, yes!
So, I suggest a nice afternoon tea or other beverage of your choice.
