I agree with you about motorcycles. Some more information: In addition to a motorcycle being a very dangerous way to travel. The motorcyclist in question was on a rented bike, so he was inexperienced or maybe just unfamiliar with this particular bike. He had a passenger, another risk factor, he was operating at night and it was raining. A blueprint for disaster. Did I mention that he was cited for going too fast for conditions?
