The number of people in the cab is a false argument. Take a took at the FRA & NTSB stats on how many times during a Red Block violation or other incident there is an Engineer, a Conductor and sometimes others in the cab. While you’re there, also look how many failures an licensed Engineer can have before he’s banned for life. Would you feel safe flying in an airplane with a pilot who’s had 3 or 4 major safety infractions in a couple of years? These guys have the potential to cause enormous harm to the public. How much slack to you want to cut them? Whether its one person in the cab or five, each person there makes a conscious choice on rules compliance.
