This $200 Device Probably Would Have Prevented The Chatsworth Wreck

If this $200 device had been installed on the locomotive of Metrolink 111, the wreck at Chatsworth probably would have been avoided. It’s a jamming device that would have rendered Robert Sanchez’ cellphone useless.

Problem is, the cellphone industry and its lobbyists feel very threatened by these types of devices and are working hard to make sure they remain illegal in the U.S. --- you know, that supposed "land-of-the-free"***.

They sell cellphone jammers in Europe, in Asia, in Australia but not here. The FCC (the unofficial marketing arm of the cellphone industry) is making sure of that. Here’s a related article from the NY TIMES about this matter:
