And extending the subject: I have a EV, Not A Tesla. It's a Chevy Bolt, Union Made (UAW bug among the door stickers). Though Korean-designed (by GM-Daewoo) with a lot of Korean parts. Bought used about 4 years ago, when the old stick-shift Mazda started having expensive issues and parts were becoming unobtainium. Peppy, big inside and small outside, and efficient (3.5-4.5 miles/kwh typical). Yes, it had a scary recall because a couple dozen (out of about 150K built by the time GM killed it in favor of a big pickup truck EV) spontaneously caught fire due to a battery defect. GM recalled them all (2017-2021 models) and replaced the battery (with a 8 yr/100K mile warranty) in all 2017-19 and many 2020 models. So now all Bolts have the same range, and the older ones have a battery warranty extending to 2030 or so regardless of age or mileage at the time of replacement. If you see an older Bolt for sale used, it might be a good deal.

Anyway, it just works. Does what I need a 2nd car for - running around town and the metro area, with a 200-250 mile range depending on season and how I'm driving it. I charge at home overnight, which gets me a discounted rate during deep off-peak hours. That's the best way to do an EV, since it means the car is full and ready to use in the morning.

Downside of the Bolt of course is that it's not a Tesla. So its slow charging (old design competing with the Nissan Leaf rather than Tesla) away from home is a pain (though less so than even just a few years ago due to expansion of charging networks - and with an adapter it will be able to charge at some Tesla sites later this year). But I don't use it for long trips much; we have a old (long ago paid-for!) gas-powered Prius for that. Basically, it's a good small car that happens to be electric, and being an EV improves the experience.
