Some folks just don't like the facts that they don't like...

Like that 59% of US households own 2 or more motor vehicles, with 375 having 3 or more motor vehicles, and 8.5 of households have no motor vehicle...

Or like that, only .08 percent of daily trips is over 100 miles, or that less than .01 % of all daily trips is 500 miles or more...

Or like the fact that the average daily vehicle miles per vehicle in the US is only 24 miles per day... Although it is higher in multivehicle households distributed across more vehichles and usually more drivers. The average driver drives only about 28 miles per day, althoiugh in households with more than one vehicle, the miles for the first vehicle is higher than the average (almost double) but declines by up to 60% or more on each additional vehicle.

My neighbors have 4 cars, and one is electric. The two that get the highest usage are the "Leaf" and the Chevy pickup. One used for work in contracting covering most of Sou Cal, is the Leaf.... The one used for long trips to the vacation home is the Chevy truck, and when he needs to have the hauling capacity for materials or equipment.

Vehicle usage patterns are highly varied by occupation, household size, location, trip types, even age, and EV's can easily fill many of those needs. I once owned as many as four vehicles for a while, now I have one pickup truck, with very low mileage. Which is reason enough for the other end of the enviro loony fringe to hate me, as well....

So there are huge segments of the vehicle travel market that can use EV's with no trouble whatsoever, or else Elon wouldn't have been able to buy Twitter. So unless you're some didactic ill manned troll who likes to call people communist's or use dirty words on a train chat board, there are plenty of reasonable arguments to be made for EV's.

Since this is a rail site, I note that many of the mid distance auto trips in major regional and interurban corridors, espectially into and out of major urban centers, are very time and cost competitive travel markets for trips greater than 30 miles, especially in highly congested corridors. With better transit connectivity and shared ride services the connectivity could work to meet many of our travel needs.
