Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a cow. I think Freedricks is right, the screeners have to plow through zillions of crummy pix, and he or she probably never noticed the date. They are pretty lienient with old stuff, and it was almost instantaneously accepted on appeal.

But it raised some issues for me. One, I have trouble seeing digital noise. Maybe my old eyes just aren't good enough.

Secondly, now that I'm scanning old slides I'm finding grain that was not noticeable when they were projected. In particularly some of my old KRII are much grainier than I thought. Hell, they even make KR64 look good.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding Vuescan. I'm a big Vuescan fan.
