I would like to set the record straight and appologise for any problems caused on my part! I erred on the month the shot was taken of the UP going down 3rd Street and I am sorry for any confusion. After rechecking I find that this photo was actually taken on OCTOBER 31, 1996 and not November 31. I checked some of my other photos of that period and have several of the UP AND UP M.O.W. crews taking out the cross over diamond at 3rd Street near Adaline that allowed UP entrance into its yards there. The crews worked at the same time with the SP working on its portion (the mainline) and the UP crews working on pulling the UP line installing and realigning a switch from the SP main into the UP yards. These photos are all dated November 7th, 1996. So after the photo was taken of the UP going down 3rd, there were seven days left until the possibility of using these tracks would disappear. As I recall the pulling of the tracks along 3rd Street itself followed shortly thereafter.
