i was lucky enough to ride from phoenix to sf, and had a job meeting near LA on our rest day there. I even had a surprize meeting with my college roommates [who had drawn mustaches on my train calendars in 1967] on the train north of LA; we had lotsa laughs [and henry's] on the trip north. Smoked cigars near San Jose in memory of the old cigar smoking men who had thought [with tears] that the 4460 would be the last steamer on that line, when riding the lounge car on the last steam picnic train in '58. Great memories! I am sure the lucky folks this year are making new ones that will match up well. REH
