MDO ought to know. He was the person who was assigned to get SP out of the NWP business and the NWP was his responsibility when he was VP in Oakland. There was a particular hair raising incident he recalled about high railing the upper route in a rain storm, a section of which washed out. If anyone alive can give all of you good common sense business reasons to drop the NWP like a hot rock, he can. He lived it.
