I second what "A Suggestion" said. Wading thru and reading "E" email shows a lack of class with an inane comment hiding behind a handle. Anyway, for those who are interested, NWP will haul inbound agricultural products to Dairymans Milling and Bar Ale in Petaluma. Inbound finished lumber will go to a lumber co. at Black Point, Mead-Clark Co. in Santa Rosa and Standard Structures in Windsor. Outbound finished Truss Spans will be shipped by Standard Structures which up to this time are to long for 101. McPhails Materials will have an inbound and outbound sand, gravel and rock for the asphalt and batching plant. Inbound building materials by barge will also move back to rail. ALL of this in the NWP Business PLan and in the EIR which was just released for its 45 day comment period. Here is the link to the EIR [
northcoastrailroad.org] and if you read it all, you will be an expert on the NWP and also know about the traffic base. The contractor, Balfour-Beatty is about 95% complete with the restoration. The are stilling dumping ballast in a few spots and putting in some ties a few strategic places. The last bridge over Novato Creek at Highway 37 is being repaired. There is NO GAP in the ROW. The bridge mentioned in an earlier post in Petaluma was part of the flood contgrol project as has been in place for several years. Part of the that project included of 1 1/2 miles of class 5 track from downtown Petaluma to Park Siding. Legally, the railroad can start operations after the 45 day comment period. I have personally seen the restored railroad from Brazos Bridge to Ignacio and it has all the appearance of a brand new railroad. While most of the ribbon is being retained, sections along this stretch are new from the ground up including sub-grade and ballast. One of those sections is between south-end of Schelville yard and the Wingo Bridge where the Fish and Game contract rebuilt the entire roadbed after rebuilding the levee with all new ties. So to the critics and speculators......have at it!
