Brian, you hit the nail on the head. If you're a railfan, why wouldn't you want the NWP to run, so you can watch, chase, photograph, or just be glad there's trains running where previously they were not? Since powers beyond your (or my) control decided to restore the NWP, enjoy the fringe benefit to your hobby. If you're concerned by the fiscal wisdom (or lack thereof) behind it, you might want to consider the subsidy to your "special interest" of railfanning that it represents--that's more than many of your fellow citizens will ever see rise out of the pork barrel. If you are a Concerned Citizen, you might want to transfer your attention to a Concerned Citizen discussion board where you can advocate getting your tax money back (good luck). Me, I think I'll forgo tilting at windmills and just chase trains. As soon as the NWP starts running, I'll be out there; if it craps out, I'll just have to take my camera elsewhere--it certainly wouldn't be the first time.
