Apparently you're confused. The 7 day period has nothing to do with staying qualified. That's something that's done while the emmployee is on the Reserve Board. What the 7 day period is, is the length of time the employee will continue to receive pay and benefits after he's recalled. During that period, he has to complete all the Return To Work steps the company requires of any employee, which is virtually impossible to do and have reviewed and certified by Omaha within the allotted time period. If it's not completed by the end of the 7th day, the company then holds the engineer off without pay or benefits until the end of the 30th day.
