I don't think you can assume what upload or download speeds to the cloud will be five or ten years from now.

I well recall the excitement if receiving a three page MS Word document over my first modem. Each page took about five minutes, and the total document ended up taking close to half an hour because we had to try a couple times.

And there it was, in the blue and white of MS Word at the time, from someone else's computer on to my computer. I couldn't believe it.

Now - once again, that's not to say the problems of today's speeds are to be scoffed at... just that it seems that the future will be faster (I would very much assume that DSLRs of the next five years themselves will soon be uploading images to the cloud as they are snapped.
