"Basic" did a lot of food work for the U.S. Army. They were processing up to 400,000 pounds of onions DAILY !!! The detailed history is fascinating, Mr. Yardmaster, but as it is late on Sunday evening, I'll post more early this week.
By the way, I understand the tunnel is still in place as part of the bike trail.
