Not so, Coleman.. They were two different rail lines. The one you are thinking of was the old Southern Pacific "Winters Branch" which split from the SP mainline at Elmira, CA and ran to Winters and also Esparto--originally running all the way to Rumsey, CA.
The line I have brought up in reference to the old Vacaville "Onion Plant" was the Sacramento Northern's "Vacaville Branch" which had a connection to the SP mainline at "Cannon".. Ok ??
