Service to the Onion Plant was discontinued by the SN because of the condition and light construction of the track. There was a derailment on the line where the loaded cars spread the rail. Rerailing the cars tore up a lot of track because the rail was light, the ties were rotten and the ground was nothing but mud. The line was never repaired and no train ever went to the Onion Plant again. As I recall, the plant always loaded 100 ton capacity boxcars to get the rate they wanted. The line was just not up to this loading.
As I recall the tunnel type under pass was in Fairfield. In Vacaville there was always a bridge for I 80 to cross the line.
