For clarity, the signal and switch is south of the crossing.

In photo #2, the rear end of 717's rear car is stopped on the Webster Street crossing, which is located just north of the southward signal at CP North Jack London NI007. (The Webster Street crossing is at the south end of the street running in Jack London Square.) The signal is to the left of track as viewed by an approaching train and is not visible in the photo. The switch for the Number 2 / Number 3 track is just beyond this signal.

The point of collision occurred just south of the northward signal on the Number 3 (depot) track. Number 14 typically spots its lead unit just south of this signal while doing its station work.
