About a bunch of years ago, a buddy of mine and I were lucky enough (plain dumb luck, nothing else...) to score a ride on the Espee rotaries over the Hill. Once aboard, the various crews figured we belonged there, so no questions were asked.

When stopped inside the snowsheds at Norden to water and otherwise service the plows, we climbed down to shoot a few pix. A special agent saw us, walked over and demanded to know what we were doing there. I pointed at Bob Mahan (da Bear), and said that we were with him. The S.A. stepped back, smiled and said, "Y'all have a good afternoon."

We did...

I suppose the moral of the story is, if you're going to be someplace you really don't belong, look like you belong there.

That'll never happen again. Man, do I miss the Espee!
