Hey, It's a Volunteer RR -- Volunteer

If you don't like something at a Tourist RR or RR Museum which depends on volunteer to exist, go help them fix it. Volunteer! If you think your tickets cover everything, think again. It's the hours of work the volunteers put in that keep the railroad/museum afloat.
If you say to yourself, "I don't know how to run a train" or "I can't fix a steam engine" then you don't understand that volunteers do all types of work. Are you a good book keeper? Do you sell insurance? Are you good at talking to people and would be a great docent. Could you maintain their membership roll (collect dues and do a little advertizing?) Can you paint a fence? Clean a toilet? Sweep the depot floor on Fridays? Could you help set up special events, edit the newsletter, or get Home Depot to donate some tools or wood? Note, some of what the organization needs can be done from your home if you don't live close by or freeing up big chunks of time is difficult.
So Tom Rodgers, you have identified areas you found as a visitor which need polishing. Why don't you help them polish? Complaining here accomplishes nothing.
