I can understand why you have not named the organizations at which your attempt to volunteer was met with indifference. I can say with good confidence that that would never happen at the RR Museums with which I have been associated. Likewise I am sure there are many volunteers, the Executive Director (or head guy), and the Board of Directors at the museums/tourist RRs where you were rebuffed who would be very unset if they knew about it. They all know that volunteers are what makes things work.

If you want to discuss this off line email me at railfan44$gmail.com. The $ should be an @. I have lots of contacts. Two things could result. First others wanting to volunteer at those organizations would not be rebuffed. Second, you may get an offer to come work on some project at one of them.

I'm willing to try it.

(Note, I'm not talking about model RR clubs.)
