I just can't let that comment go unchallenged. Rush took pain pills many years ago. He had back pain (and a failed back surgery), and unfortunately, the pills got the better of him and he became addicted. I know all about pain pill addiction--it happened to me. It happens to lots of people, and it does not discriminate based upon skin color, income level, or occupation. Pain pills are VERY powerful things, especially to someone who is in pain.
Rush did the right thing--he admitted that he had a problem LIVE ON THE AIR, and the very next day, he was gone and went to rehab. Ever since then, he has been clean. How do I know he has been clean? Simple--because he was on probation and had to submit to random drug screenings. It was part of his plea bargain. Rush has talked about this a few times on his radio program, and he says that this was "the best thing that ever happened to me". He learned about himself, and learned to become a better person.
I'm so sick of people mentioning Rush and "drugs" in the same sentence. It is not fair, and it is not appropriate. This not only applies to him, but to all of us others out here who have been through hell, survived, and came back to life. There are people reading my comments right now who know people that take pain pills on a regular basis. And guess what? Yup-they're addicted. They won't admit it, but they are. It happens to the best of us.
