You're distorting the facts about Rush's drug issues, all of which are matters of public records and easily obtainable. I'm sure Rush would be proud of you.

The initial investigation into Rush's illegal possession of prescription drugs began in Florida in 2003. Once the story broke, he announced he was voluntarily entering a treatment facility for 30 days, which is something he could've easily done himself before the news leaked out. The old saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity" certainly applies here. Having the financial means to do so, his legal team was able to delay the state's investigation until 2005, at which time a judge ruled that the state could not obtain his medical records from the prescribing doctors. The irony is that part of the message he always preached is that drug users should be arrested, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and be sent to the slammer. Sort of the classic "Do as I say, not do as I do" kind of thing.

Contrary to your claim, he apparently didn't "learn from his mistakes." In 2006 an arrest warrent was issued in Florida for alledged "doctor shopping" related to his illegally obtaing prescription meds. As part of his plea deal on this one, he had to continue submitting to drug testing and couldn't possess a firearm for 18 months. Then in late 2006, he was detained at the Miami-Dade airport for having in his possession prescription medication that hadn't been prescribed to him. Maybe he's just a slow learner.

Rush is just another so-called "Shock Jock" that makes a handsome and profitable living for himself and those associated with him by expounding and regurgitating his views to anyone who'll listen. Most people understand him for what he is, but others are easily taken in. From what you've wrote here, it's clear you're in the latter group. It's clear that Rush is just another "drug" to you. And I suppose there's really nothing wrong with that. It's really none of my business and I certainly wouldn't try to un-brainwash you.

Nor is there anything particularly wrong with what Rush does. If one looks at him objectively and sees him for what he really is, he can be the source of amusement and entertainment as he spews his convoluted and distorted views, preaches intolerance, and is just a mean person. Remember what he called Chelsea Clinton when she was a little girl?

Your comment that "sounds like operator error to me" is something that I'd expect from a Rush follower - some wag once termed them "Rush-ians." You had asked why the message got posted twice, I answered it, and you responded with what you did. Typical Rush-like.
