Yet one more...

I had to buy fuel for the TS&R gang from a local vendor.

The Rock was in hock to him for $100.00's if not $1000.00's, yet, here I was with blank checks and a glib tongue, convincing him that my check was good. (Backed by the US govn't). He sold the fuel to the Rock, to the best of my knowledge, the check was good.

Like I said somewhere on this post, negotiation and honesty are the best ways to go.
