Socialism has to do with ownership, not profitability. A socialist institution is owned by government, that is by all of us. A non socialist institution is owned by those that chose/have the ability to own it. That is, most airports are socialist institutions because they are owned by the public (e.g., SFO, LAX). Highways are socialist institutions for the same reason. Airports are usually profitable, highways not.
