If the USA wants rail service, it will need to be subsidised. Simple as that! It will need to be paid for so that means higher taxes. Same goes for road, infrastructure and all those other things that certain folk think exist by act of god!

The rest of the world is happy to pay taxes for the quality of life that is missing here. Potholes don't get filled, parks go to pot, etc; not to mention health insurance. They also have some of the finest rail passenger service which means are you prepared to pay for it all?
