The High Speed might get to both Las Vegas and on to LA directly, from Victorville, sooner than you think.
The DX market model is far more coherent than one CHSRA is operating on.
These folks at DX far more sensible, have a doable "incremental" plan, and the far more pragmatic options for achieving that connection.
The DX and LACMTA are studying the final project alternatives for the high desert corridor a freeway and HSR connection between Victorville and Palmdale that would connect directly with Metrolink.
This pragmatic, cheaper, and more cost effective "slow" speed "high speed" (a mere max of 160 mph) project intends to actively compete more for the auto market, than the air market, and might actually end up creating a model that could even be used by the CHSRA, to save itself from itself.
