One of the "Suntan Specials" operated out of San Francisco with a baggage car and six or seven Harriman coaches on July 27, 1958. It was powered by SP 4-8-4 # 4460.

Also, there was another "Suntan Special" which operated out of SP's Oakland Pier a few years earlier, also with Harriman coaches, and powered by THREE different SP steam locomotives during its trip. Between San Jose and Watsonville Junction, the locomotive was SP 4-10-2 # 5011, one of the few times, if ever, that a three cylinder 4-10-2 was used on an SP railfan trip.
