The Oakland School district with the Oakland Police Dept. would run a two train special from Oakland to Santa Cruz for all the school crossing guards. The first train would run to Fruitvale and pick up all the East Oakland kids. And the second train out would stop at Jack London square to pick-up all the kids from North Oakland. Each train had two
geep 9s all Harriman coaches, ran two sections all the way to Santa Cruz in late May from about 1956 to 1960 or so. Anybody out there remember these trains????????
