The train *attendant* (though not called that) in the story I saw was management. The train *operator* was the computer. Not clear whether or not the train was actually in passenger service. Apparently the *attendant* didn't see the track workers in time to hit the stop button and the worker (union or contractor) who was supposed to be watching didn't see the train coming in time. Not a good happening under any circumstances.
